Welcome to the eighth annual JC Heiken Angus and Sons bull sale. We are pleased to once again offer you the top end of our yearling bulls. These bulls represent the top 130 of 300 bulls in the contemporary group.
My wife, Jeralee, and I ranch at Broadview, Montana, along with our three sons and their families: John, his wife Kendra, and their children: Emma and Jordan; Brian, his wife Janna, and their children: Rylan, Keara, Nolan and Tillie; and Ben and his wife, Lynsey. Each family owns their own cows and has their prefix on their own bulls. All 700 registered cows are run to-gether as one herd, making large, meaningful contemporary groups.
From the beginning, all breeding decisions were made using highly proven, nationally known herd sires to develop the opti-mum cow herd for our environment. Fertility, thickness, depth of body and efficiency are our main objectives in our cow herd.
We AI over 600 of the 700 head in the spring. The calves are raised on hard, dry land pasture without creep feed. They are weaned in early October. At weaning, they are fed a ration of 66% hay and straw with 33% wheat midds, distillers and corn. The bulls are developed in large pens where they get lots of exercise, ensuring good, sound feet and are ready to go to work for you.
We try to produce bulls weighing 1250 - 1400 pounds by the time we deliver them to you around the first week of April. We will winter them until then at no charge, with free delivery. Any bull taken home from today’s sale will receive a $100 discount. All bulls will be fertility tested before delivery.
