Dallas Sheep Outfit is a small operation started several years ago on the East side of the Crazy Mountain (you know, the pretty side). The ewes spend their first summer out with a herder, eating leafy spurge, learning the ways of guard dogs, and picking up a little Spanish as well. We have worked hard to get our flock to a consistent high quality sheep with a low micron; the wool has consistently been 20.0µ for the last 10 years! Lambing starts mid-April and the sheep have been on pasture since. Dallas Sheep believes in selling a sheep, either ewe or ram, that will be ready to hit the range and be able to perform in the same environment in which they were raised.
Our sheep have been raised and selected not only on their records and numbers but also on their temperament. There is not enough time at lambing to deal with a ewe that does not, or cannot, take a lamb or a ram that will hit you every time your back is turned. Our lambing percentage has been over 160% for the last several years. With a range index no lower than 103 on the ewes, we strive to make sure that each sheep earns their place in the flock.
